Pre-incorporation notice. Venoly is run by its two founders and operated from Emmen, the Netherlands (the co-founder is based in the United States), while the legal entity (a Dutch B.V.) is being incorporated. Contracts and liabilities referenced in these documents are entered into by the founder personally until incorporation completes, at which point they transfer to Venoly B.V. by novation without action required from you. Where the documents refer to Venoly B.V., that name should be read as "Venoly (operating as a sole proprietorship pending incorporation)" until the entity is registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce (KvK).
1. Overview
This page is the public output of our Article 15 DSA reporting commitment. We publish a full report annually and a rolling summary monthly. Figures here are preliminary until the annual report is signed off.
The reporting period for the current rolling summary is the trailing 90 days from the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
2. Notice-and-Action Submissions
Counts of notices received under our DSA Art. 16 endpoint, by category and outcome. Until our first full reporting period closes the table below shows live counts pulled from the moderation queue.
| Category | Received | Actioned | Rejected | Median response |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Illegal content (general) | — | — | — | — |
| Intellectual-property (DMCA / Art. 6:196c BW) | — | — | — | — |
| Child safety (CSAM) | — | — | — | — |
| Privacy / defamation | — | — | — | — |
| Terrorism / violent extremism | — | — | — | — |
Live figures will populate here once the public Art. 16 endpoint has been live for 30 days.
3. Own-Initiative Moderation
Counts of restrictions applied without an external notice — typically Venilator policy hits and staff-initiated reviews. Categories are aggregated from the moderation log.
- Warnings — figure pending first reporting period.
- Mutes & temporary restrictions — figure pending.
- Suspensions — figure pending.
- Terminations — figure pending.
- Deep bans (cascading IP/device/email) — figure pending.
4. Statements of Reasons
Every content or account restriction we apply produces a Statement of Reasons under DSA Art. 17. We submit each one to the EU DSA Transparency Database (dsa-tdb.ec.europa.eu) once we have completed the enrollment formalities.
Affected users receive their Statement of Reasons by email the moment the restriction is applied. The email carries a reference. An appeal filed in Venoly is tied to the decision for you; if you appeal by email instead, quote the reference. A suspended or terminated account cannot open a normal session (the sign-in screen offers only the appeal), so the statement can be retrieved at any time without one at /api/legal/statements-of-reasons/<reference>, and anyone still signed in can list their own at /api/legal/statements-of-reasons/me.
6. Child Safety Referrals
Referrals made to NCMEC (US National Center for Missing & Exploited Children) and EOKM (Expertisebureau Online Kindermisbruik, NL) under our Child Safety Policy:
- NCMEC referrals — figure pending; reported annually in absolute counts.
- EOKM referrals — figure pending.
7. Internal Appeals & Out-of-Court Settlement
Appeals against Venoly's own decisions (suspensions, terminations, posting limits and warnings from the Venoly team), filed in the product at venoly.nl/appeal or from Settings → Account standing. An appeal is either granted or denied. Withdrawn appeals count as received. Appeals against a server's own bans and warnings are decided by that server's moderators and are not counted here.
- Appeals received: figure pending
- Decided: figure pending
- Granted: figure pending
- Denied: figure pending
- Open or in review: figure pending
- Median time from filing to decision: figure pending (our target is a decision within 14 days)
- Out-of-court dispute settlement procedures opened: figure pending
8. Archive
Historical reports will be archived here once the first full reporting period has completed. The underlying records (Statements of Reasons, moderation actions, audit log) are retained per the Privacy Policy.
9. Security architecture
Transparency extends to how the platform defends itself. Every named security subsystem — Venilator, Aegis, Sentinel, Cipher, Warden, Tripwire — is documented publicly with its role and mechanism on the architecture page, with implementation-faithful detail on the security deep-dive. Venoly has not yet undergone a third-party security audit; until it has, these pages describe what exists, how it works, and how to verify it — nothing more.
